Expressing deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident, Union Minister Kishan Reddy emphasized the cultural and spiritual significance of the Sabarimala Temple and the revered 40-day journey undertaken by Lord Ayyappa’s devotees within Hinduism.

With an annual footfall of nearly 1 crore devotees at Sabarimala, a substantial number hailing from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Minister Reddy underscored the need to address the significant inconveniences faced by pilgrims during the Mandala season.
In the heartfelt letter, Kishan Reddy implored Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to deploy ample personnel and staff to alleviate wait times for devotees. Additionally, he sought intervention to ensure the provision of essential amenities such as food, water, hygienic sanitation facilities, and medical assistance for pilgrims undertaking the sacred pilgrimage.
Expressing concern over reports of severe inconveniences faced by Ayyappa Swami bhaktas and the recent tragic death of a young girl during the darshan wait, Minister Reddy conveyed the urgency of the matter.
Highlighting the importance of a safe and secure passage for devotees seeking Lord Ayyappa’s darshan, Minister Kishan Reddy conveyed the Central government’s readiness to support initiatives addressing these concerns. He also proposed the involvement of non-governmental organizations willing to assist, suggesting their operation within the temple premises and along the trekking path from Pampa to Sannidhanam.

The letter concluded with a sincere plea for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s immediate attention to the matter, urging him to take all necessary actions to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees. As the nation mourns the recent tragedy, the hope is that swift measures will be implemented to enhance the pilgrimage experience and uphold the sanctity of Sabarimala Temple.
