Delhi Police has left no stone unturned, deploying paramilitary forces and mobilizing over 1,000 police personnel to safeguard more than 250 churches across the city. With a significant increase in footfall expected, the security measures aim to create a secure environment for the festivities.

Coordination with Paramilitary Forces:

Acknowledging the importance of a collaborative effort, a Delhi Police spokesperson stated, “The Delhi police has also sought the assistance of paramilitary forces for providing security cover to major churches in the city which expect larger footfall.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey outlined the meticulous plans, “There will be deployment of 1,000 police personnel, along with additional forces. We are already prepared for the two big days — Christmas and New Year.” The deployment includes key checkpoints and borders, ensuring a comprehensive security net.

Strict Vigilance:

Ensuring law and order, the police emphasize strict action against any breaches. DCP Joy Tirkey affirmed, “No one will be allowed to breach law and order condition. If someone is found breaching law and order, they will be dealt with strict action.” Special attention will be given to curbing triple riding and drunk driving.

Community Celebrations:

Recognizing the significance of Christmas Eve celebrations, police officials have engaged in multi-layered security arrangements in different markets. Senior officials have met with Station House Officers (SHOs) to coordinate efforts and enhance vigilance.

Enhanced Security for Crowded Areas:

Additional police force and extra security checkpoints have been installed in crowded market areas. The security focus extends to churches, malls, and various markets known for heavy footfall during Christmas evening.

Comprehensive Security Measures:

Delhi Police has not only increased personnel presence but also deployed quick response teams (QRTs), emergency response vehicles, metal detector devices, and sniffer dog squads. Plainclothes officers will also keep a watchful eye to ensure a seamless celebration.

Key Churches in Focus:

Special attention has been given to prominent churches, including Sacred Heart Cathedral, Free Church (CNI) in Connaught Place, Centenary Methodist Church at Lodhi Road, St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral at Patparganj, Green Park Free Church, St.Paul’s Church at Parade Road, and St Teresa’s Church at Pushp Vihar.
